The pull and kill [AOE Frost Mage]

Listen up kids because this is the hard part. Easily the most difficult part of Aoe grinding is the pull. The kill is basically a case of point, click and cackle. The idea is to ride in (a mount helps but isn’t essential) and aggro around 10 mobs. I suggest you start with 2-3 though just to get used to it.

So you you need to pick a spot where there are 5-10 melee mobs. Make sure they’re MELEE. Ranged classes interrupt Blizzard, can hit you and just generally fuck it all up. Your after undead and humanoids most of the time. So just avoid ranged mobs. Make sure there’s plenty of space as well, you’ll need to blink around etc.

DO NOT use ice/frost armour. If you read the last post you’ll know how important it is to keep the mobs packed. If some that hit you get slowed during the pull they’ll be spread out and you’ll lose control and more than likely die. So use mage armour, you need the mana regen anyway.

Edit: down rank your mage armor to Rank 1. You still get 30% mana regen and thats all we care about, no point wasting mana.

Here’s how its done:

1. Find your victims, 5-10 MELEE mobs
2. Pop Ice Barrier. I strongly recommend not using Mana Shield since it eats your mana.
3. Mount up
4. Say a little prayer if your religious
5. Run towards the mob furthest from you
6. Run back towards the mob that was closest to you at the start, spiraling inwards to keep them all aggroed and pack them together.
7. If any aren’t clustered ride out and grab them.
8. Just as they’re about to catch you hit Ice Block. You will dismount.
9. Once they’re all on you Frost Nova and blink. Just don’t go into more mobs. Strafe away a bit, about 16 yards. Note: this is the bit that takes practice, learning when your at the max range of your Blizzard.
10. Drop your first blizzard, the furthest edge of the green cast area should be touching the mob furthest from you.
11. When your first Blizzard ends drop another, this time the edge furthest from you should be just in front of the mob closest to you.
12. So the mobs just walked through two Blizzards 😀 Run towards them (seriously) Cone of Cold and Frost nova. Then blink through them.
13. You should now be standing behind the mob who was at the back of the pack. Note: that was the dangerous bit, you have to be quite close to the mobs.
14. Strafe out a little if you need and drop a final Blizzard on the pack of mobs. They should be dead by now.
15. If not Cone of Cold. If ones still kicking do what you like, wand, fire blast, whatever.

And there you go, you just killed 10 for the price of 1 😀

One last thing, you’re going to come across well meaning/kill stealing idiots. Make a Macro telling them to go away. They’ll just disrupt you often aggroing a couple of mobs, dieing and leaving those to kill you once your oom.
