Some commentary on an old video from blizzards mouth.
why did they even consider necromancers – weren’t warlocks (shadow-based summoners) filling that role already? (consider Spriests too) we dont need 4 cloth classes. Especially considering the range of styles between the current 3.
From late 07 – they still hadn’t decided what LK hero class they were going to have? Geez. The friends and family alpha came int he first half of 08 – which featured death knights (semi functional)
they had to make some quick desicions, considering how catergorically they are saying they aren’t including knights here. Was it really that hard to come up with a new hero class? Even though the bard was a joke, I think it would have been slightly less alien than a 3rd plate class – plus the name Death Knight absorbs Children and Emos alike.

Interesting read here, I was looking through what blizzard were saying in response to the well asked questions, and then I noticed something about 2/3rds of the way down, just after a dude asked about holy rpiest raiding, there was a QA on RET PALLES, this is a direct quote from whichever Blizz monkey was on stage at the time;
Q: Ret Paladin – shrinking for some time. Now what will happen with Death Knight is introduced. It is already small, won’t it disappear? (lots of applause)
A: Not just ret pallies will be attracted to death knights. Ret pallies will get more raid dps instead of just burst oriented dps. [interesting bit] They must be careful not to overdo it on the PVP front.
I dont think they could have failed more at that simple task. Yes I know its only 3.0.2 and everyones still at 70, but fucking hell, they couldn’t be further from what they said they were going to do. one line:
Ret pally x2 in 2′s. THEY EVEN FUCKING NERFED THEM.
